Libraries in America are being attacked, and might be forced to ban childrens books! On 1/22, The Consumer Products Safety Commission held a meeting, and announced that childrens books are likely to be included in the items that must now be tested for lead as a result of the Consumer Porduct Safety Improvement Act of 2008 being passed. In the coming weeks, they will decide if this includes the books found presently at libraries all across the nation. If they vote in favor of this interpretation, the libraries will have two options – Either outright ban all childrens books alltogether, or If they were to try and keep childrens’ books, they would have to test them all for lead. This would be so cost-prohibitive that doing so would certainly force more libraries to close. If you care about education, reading, and America’s children, go to the link below, find out more, and cal them to let them know that you want them to SAVE THE LIBRARIES! miniurl.com This is America. If we want to live in a nation where certain books are banned, I’m afraid we missed Nazi Germany by about 65 years.
